Obi-Wan Kenobi Character Studies

Drawing and writing Obi-Wan has changed him in my "fanon" not only in the way he looks, the way he is depicted physically, but also as a character. I honestly started my fics to be as close to the canon as possible. Originally, Obi-Wan was not going to fall for Wielder, nor she for him, and Wielder was actually going to be a good little Jetti and die a nameless death and all that shit. But, sometimes a story tells itself, even a fanfiction, and Obi likewise has changed. As much as I bitch about The Great Beard, I do have to give a begrudging and dare I say respectful nod to him because he made such memorable characters that everyone seems to identify with in some way. I never wanted Obi-Wan to become totally unrecognizable in my art (well, other than being a 5' 10" dogman) or my stories, but he's definitely evolved.

I tried to change this up a bit. I still stared at pictures of Ewan McGregor while I sketched these out on my parchment paper. And, yanno, staring at pretty Scotsmen never bothers me. Never...okay, getting off track again. Anyway, still referenced the Ewan and screenshots from the movies, the various TV shows, and comics and tried to find a happy medium with expressions, hair styles, costume, etc. As for the two random characters in the middle, they ain't so random. Yup. I finally drew himz 'rents...or what they look like in my little fucked up universe. His mother is a purebred Maremma named Tera'Vatta Abanada and his father is a dilute tricolor rough collie named Wallace Kenobi. Why Wallace? Because I like Scottish names, it translates into "stranger", and William Wallace was a badass. Besides, if two motherfuckers named PADME and ANAKIN can have a kid named LUKE, Obi's daddy can be Wallace. His mother's name comes from Theravada Buddhism. The name translates into "teachings of the Elders" which I thought would be a good name for Obi's mom. Her last name is Italian for the most part since she is a Maremma, and it means roughly "forsaken". Also, sadly, a good name for the mother of a man who would grow up not knowing much of his parents. As for them as people and parents, they are wise but simple folk, farmers, a love at first sight kind of story, they were good parents, and there's more to it, I am sure, but, yeah, gotta think on that some since we don't really know much...or anything...really about Obi-Wan's childhood, and what we do know, Lucas shot to shit with his canon killer gun. Fuck.

Obi babbu pictures. Because he's cute. And because Wielder needed blackmail material. To the right, we have Clone Wars Kenobi looking determined, dug in, and ten different kinds of "I am done with this shit". Behind that, we have two depictions of preteen Obi. One of him looking over his shoulder after having gotten caught by Mace stealing pastries from the mess hall. The other one has a shit eating grin wearing Obi leaning on a desk with a mean little drawing of Master Yoda under his hands. Yeah, he can't be a goodie two shoes all the time.

The original sketches are done on one piece of parchment paper. Scanned, inked, and colored in photoshop because, for some reason, the great Mr. Ruggels believes that, one fine day, I'll be able to do more than doodle things that look like pissed patterns in the snow with the program.
